Family Services offers counselling support to families, parents, children and young people who live, work or study in the city of Monash.
Family Services workers aim to assist families to overcome particular difficulties or stresses and to continue to provide good care for their children and to improve their family functioning.
Family Services offers assistance for families experiencing difficulties with a variety of issues such as:
• Managing children's behaviour
• Adapting to life changes
• Issues of grief and loss
• Family conflict
• Violence or abuse
• Self-esteem issues
• Educational difficulties
• Mental health concerns
• Anxiety management
• Depression
• Family separation issues
• Bullying or high risk behaviours
MonashLink Family Services offers counselling and support to deal with the above issues via:
• Family counselling
• Parenting sessions
• Individual therapy - child, adolescent and/or adult
• Consultation with other relevant people (eg school staff, GPs)
• Liaison and advocacy as required
Family Services is also involved in New Family Connections which distributes quarterly newsletters and runs a workshop for dads of young children called “Dads on Deck”.
