family violence
MonashLink is committed to promoting the safety of women and children in our community and provides a comprehensive service to those affected by Family/Domestic Violence. We provide programs that support women and children who have, or are experiencing violence, and a Men’s Behaviour Change program for men who identify as having issues with their violent and controlling behaviour. This behaviour includes physical, sexual, emotional, verbal, economic, social abuse and intimidation.
MonashLink offers individual, as well as family counselling and group programs to anyone wanting to address issues related to family violence.
The Men’s Responsibility Group is a program focussed on building men’s capacity to say ‘no’ to violent and controlling behaviour. It invites men to take responsibility for their behaviour, providing them with support and strategies to assist them to stop their violence and abuse. The program consists of 20 weekly sessions followed by monthly follow up meetings for 6 months. The sessions are held in the evening for a 2 hour duration. The program runs throughout the year within the school terms. Contact is also made with partners of the men who are offered resources and support.
The Women Reclaiming Their Lives group is an 8 week program for women who have, or are experiencing violence and/or abuse at home. Topics and speakers are decided by the group at the first session. The program runs twice a year.
